What we collect and show

We use your email to send sign-in links. Your display name, bio, and approved discoveries, including approved photos, are public. Photos awaiting review are available to their uploader and moderators. We store your submissions, votes, reports, and moderation decisions to run the community. Vote totals are public; individual voting records and report reasons aren’t displayed publicly. Moderators can see reports and discoveries awaiting review.

Services that help run the site

Photo submissions are resized and re-encoded in your browser before upload, removing embedded EXIF information such as GPS coordinates. The picture itself may still show faces, addresses, or other identifying details; check the preview before submitting. Unfinished photo uploads remain private and can be removed with account deletion.

Link previews are retrieved by our server. Cover images, including previews you choose to submit, are re-encoded and stored with the discovery so their display does not depend on the linked site. Moderators may add or replace a cover; it remains associated with the discovery owner for account cleanup. If you choose to play an embedded video, YouTube or Vimeo receives the browser information needed to deliver its player and applies its own privacy practices. Vercel hosts the website. Supabase provides account sign-in and our database. Resend delivers sign-in emails. Cloudflare Turnstile checks sign-in attempts for bots. GoDaddy provides our support mailbox. These services process the information needed for their roles and may keep operational and security logs. Emailing support shares your message with our support mailbox provider.

Profile pictures and content screening

Uploaded profile pictures remain private to you and moderators until approved. Approved pictures are public. Replacements need a new review. We send images to Google Cloud Vision for automated adult-content and violence screening when configured; moderators also review content. Automated screening can make mistakes. Contact support to appeal. Your profile photo is included in account exports and removed from active storage with account deletion.

Social sign-in

When enabled, you can sign in through a supported identity provider. Supabase receives the identity and verified email needed to authenticate you. Identities with the same verified email can use your existing account, preserving its discoveries and votes. A different email, including an Apple private relay address, may create a separate account. We do not merge accounts based on names or unverified email addresses. Each provider applies its own privacy practices.

Browser storage and external links

Sign-in uses browser storage to remember your session. Turnstile may process browser and network information for security. Signing out ends this browser’s session. Discovery links open other websites with their own privacy practices.

Music submissions

Artists can upload MP3 tracks and cover artwork for review. Approved tracks and artist details are available to visitors; pending and hidden tracks are restricted to the author and moderators. Deleted discoveries and audio remain private for recovery until account deletion. Spotify players load when you choose to listen and Spotify receives the browser information needed to deliver its player. Apple Music and Amazon Music links open those services under their own privacy practices.

Voter levels

Your voter level and total credited votes are public. We retain a private record of the discoveries you have voted on to credit each discovery once. Changing or removing a vote does not remove this level credit; deleting your account removes these records.

Following and activity alerts

You can follow categories, interests and discoverers to personalize your For You feed. Your following list and notification settings are private to your account. We store them to build the feed, and include them in your account export. Comments on discoveries you shared or joined, moderation updates, vote milestones and hall achievements can create in-site notifications. You can turn these new alerts off by type in My profile. These settings do not subscribe you to emails or browser notifications.

Website analytics

With your permission through Analytics preferences at the bottom of the site, Google Analytics measures visits, approximate location, device and browser type, traffic sources, and counts of discovery opens, votes, submissions and shares. It uses analytics cookies to distinguish visits and returning browsers; these are pseudonymous measurements, not an identified list of visitors. We do not send your account ID, email, comments, search text, sign-in tokens or full referring URLs. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalization are disabled. We do not load the Google tag until you allow analytics. You can decline or withdraw at any time through Analytics preferences; Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control also block collection. Analytics cookies are configured for up to 90 days. Google processes measurement data under its terms and retention settings. Reports cover consenting visitors and may be reduced by blockers or browser privacy settings. The separate optional account measurement below keeps its own controls.

Optional experience measurement

Measurement is off by default and only runs for signed-in members who opt in through My profile. We count visits, successful votes and submissions, discovery opens, shares, image requests and photo fallback attempts. We store daily counts and total image request durations against your account for up to 90 days, with automatic daily cleanup. We do not record individual event histories, search text, comment bodies, discovery URLs, external browsing history, advertising IDs or analytics cookies. Moderators can view aggregate results; your own daily totals are included in account exports and removed with account deletion. Turning measurement off stops new collection. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control also prevent collection even if the setting is enabled. Hosting and security logs are separate from this optional feature.

Social share images

Downloading a social card creates a PNG from the public discovery cover, title, category and vote total. When you choose to share it through your device, your selected social app receives that image and the discovery link. Keep the source credits and share only images you have permission to use.

Your controls

You can edit your public name and bio, change or remove votes, and download your account data from your profile. You can delete your own discoveries from the hall and public profile. Deleted discoveries and their photos stay private for recovery in My discoveries; restoring sends them back for review. They are removed from active storage when you permanently delete your account. Account deletion removes your profile, submissions, uploaded photos, votes, reports, and sign-in account from the active community database. Associated reports and moderation records on your removed submissions are also removed. Moderator accounts must contact support before deletion so moderation access can be managed safely.

Retention and requests

We retain community account data while your account exists. Service logs and backups can remain under the providers’ retention processes after active data is removed. To request removal of a particular discovery, correct data you cannot edit, or ask about retained information, email support from your account email. We may ask you to verify ownership before acting. Don’t send passwords or sign-in links.
